About OVT

Other Voices is the resident theatre company at The Performing Arts Factory. Other Voices was established in 1998 to offer the community a comprehensive theatre and dance experience through productions, workshops, and performance opportunities. Other Voices has expanded through the years and now under the direction of Susan Thornton, Other Voices currently produces 4 mainstage and 2 family theatre shows a year, in the Performing Arts Factory’s 114 seat theatre. The Easter weekend production of The New Adventures of Alice in Wonderland has been continually running since 1996 at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in downtown Frederick. Other Voices also has a children’s theatre touring company that takes productions to Elementary schools and Day Care Centers in the Frederick County area. Other Voices is a company with a philosophy of commitment to exploring the arts as an opportunity to entertain, grow and encourage relationships and learning.

Other Voices Family Theatre

1 hour musicals adapted from classic children’s stories, fairytales and fables. Performances are fun and fast paced with audience involvement that make the shows perfect for ages 3 to 10. Shows are written by Susan Thornton or Steve Steele, directed by Susan Thornton with music by Cathie Porter-Borden and lyrics by Leon Borden. Auditions are open and actors come from all over the Tri-state area. Performances are on Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons in the Performing Arts Factory’s 114 seat theatre. Each ticket includes cookies and a drink.

Other Voices is the resident theatre company at The Performing Arts Factory. Under the direction of Susan Thornton, Other Voices currently produces 4 shows a year. Performances are two weekend runs and are in the Performing Arts Factory’s 114 seat theatre. Auditions are open and actors come from all over the Tri-state area. Past productions include Footloose, Seussical, Guys and Dolls, Little Shop of Horrors and CATS.

Touring Companys producation of “Frederick”

The Touring Company takes adaptations of Children’s Books to area Elementary schools and Day Care centers giving children the chance to experience live theatre.

Support OVT Other Voices is a non-profit 501(C)3 organization. Like all non profits, there are never enough funds to handle everything and a new expense is always around the corner. We rely heavily on the support and generosity of local businesses and individuals to help make our projects a success.
