Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Other Voices Theatre is excited to bring the classic Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, to life on stage this summer. After having prophetic dreams, Joseph’s jealous brothers sell him into slavery in Egypt where despite all the odds, Joseph’s dreams ultimately come true.
All Rehearsals and Performances will take place at The Performing Arts Factory:

Narrator – The storyteller, a pop/rock singing voice who is strong on comedy and moves well. They are of modern day, but will adapt to the story as it progresses often guiding the children’s chorus around the stage and throughout the story, Must be comfortable working with Children – Female or Non-Binary Presenting – 30’s-40’s – Mezzo/Soprano, A3-G5, with a Strong Pop Belt
Joseph – The eleventh son of Jacob. His father’s favorite, and the main character of our show. Joseph must have strong vocal presence, Comfort level of performing with torn clothing/no shirt and mild seductive dancing can be discussed with director – Mid to Late 20’s – Male or Non-Binary Presenting – Tenor B2-G4
Jacob – The Patriarch of the family, a bit naïve and can be easily persuaded. He is the Father to Joseph and his Brothers – Elderly 60’s+ preferred but can age with stage techniques – Male Presenting – Baritone D2-B3
Joseph’s Brothers – Joseph has Eleven brothers. Must have good singing voices and ability to move well/dance. This show depends on contrasting characters of various shapes, nationalities, sizes and vocal ranges. – Ages 15- 50, – Male and Non-Binary Presenting
Potiphar – He is your typical, post mid-life crisis real estate Tycoon, He is interested in Money and his wife but takes a soft spot to Joseph – Mid-Life to Older aged, Male Presenting – Mostly Spoken/Baritone
Potiphar’s Wife – Potiphar’s true prized possession, which isn’t always reciprocated. She is a strong dancer. Female presenting, Comfort levels with clothing options, seductive dancing and mild body contact can be discussed with the Director and Choreographer.
Pharaoh – The King of Egypt! Pharaoh is loved and adored by all. Must have strong stage and vocal presence, must be comfortable breaking the 4th wall. Male Presenting Late 30’s Comfort levels with clothing options, seductive dancing and mild body contact can be discussed with the Director and Choreographer. Baritone B2-G4
Brothers Wives – Casting contrasting characters of various shapes, nationalities, sizes and vocal ranges. – Ages 15- 50 – Female and Non-Binary Presenting
Children’s Chorus – Ages 10 – 15 of various shapes, nationalities, gender expression and size. Children will be utilized for choral elements and various supporting roles throughout the production.

To honor our friend Shawn Nakia Law, who passed away in April, we are are collecting snacks and drinks for The Frederick Center. These snacks will be available for the young people who use the Center for meetings, counseling, support and fellowship.
If you are coming to see Joseph and the Amazing Technical Color Dreamcoat please consider bringing some individually wrapped snacks (chips, cookies, pretzels) or drinks for The Frederick Center. We will also have a container for cash in the lobby if you would like us to do the shopping for you.
